Instructors
Illya C. Ninichuck, Owner and Certified Pilates Instructor – Born and raised in Southern California, Illya came to be a Pilates instructor from a very unconventional path. After graduating from USD with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering/A.S. in Math, she spent nearly a decade in the corporate grind as a Strategic Accounts Manger in the Aerospace Defense Industry.
After being promoted and moving to Tucson Arizona, Illya tried to find a balance between her personal life and her stressful work schedule. Being active with daily walks, Bikram Yoga, floor work, and various fitness classes, offered some relief but there was still something missing. It was during this time in 2006 that she was introduced to Pilates through a mat class at her gym. Illya became hooked from the first class. She loved the calming, nuturing balance that Pilates brought and felt this is what had been lacking from other fitness regimes.
Through her experience with this mat class, Illya gained confidence and a better understanding of Pilates and signed on for private classes with the instructor. This relationship brought her a deeper understanding of Pilates and honed her body and mind into a more dedicated participant as she began to work towards the next level; Pilates apparatus exercises. After joining the Jennifer Jenkins Pilates Body Studio, Illya quickly excelled in her classes and within a year had signed on for the Pilates training and certification class.
Illya received her training and certification in both classical and contemporary Pilates from The Pilates Body Studio in Oro Valley, AZ, under Jennifer Jenkins, a Romana Kryzanowska trained instructor. Illya brings her understanding of body movement and an acute sense of body awareness to help her clients visualize and work on their specific body goals.
Illya’s passion for Pilates grew out of desire to enhance her understanding of body movement and awareness, and bring about a nurturing balance to her life. This passion led to Illya opening her studio here in Carlsbad, CA where she hopes to share this passion with as many people as she can.
Oralia Martinelli, Certified Pilates Instructor -
Oralia began practicing Pilates in 2004. She fell in love with the form, beauty and precision of its movement. As she developed strength and physical fitness, she realized that Pilates was not simply a twice a week exercise routine in her life but rather Pilates was a part of her life. In 2007 she decided to attend Body Arts and Science International (BASI) in Costa Mesa, California and enrolled in the Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training under Master Pilates Instructor Rael Isacowitz. She completed the program and received her BASI Certification in 2008. She then continued her training at J.L. Body Conditioning in Del Mar, California. She completed an apprenticeship program under another Master Pilates Instructor, Juliam Littleford. There she gained valuable experience working with very diverse populations, such as elderly, post-rehab patients, prenatal and postnatal women and stroke victims. In 2008 she received her second certification as a Pilates Full-Apparatus Instructor. She was then given the oppoortunity to work at J.L. Body Conditioning under the supervision and mentorship of Master Julian Littleford from 2008 to 2010 as an instructor.
